Our mind is moving from one thought to another. Buddha said its like a monkey moving from one place to another. If the mind is generating positive thoughts then its good but if some negative thoughts are also there, then this makes our mind tired and less productive. One simple way is to focus on one’s breathe as the breathing is in the present so being aware of one’s breathe, the mind will start settling down and feel at ease.
Once this is achieved then developing thoughts of compassion for oneself and other sentient beings will put oneself at peace
